Makes about 2-1/2 quarts
Nonstick cooking spray
2 (13-1/2 oz) packages bite-size Tostitos
½ c. butter
½ c. sugar
½ c. light Karo syrup
3 tbsp. soy sauce
¼ c. furikake (sesame seed/seaweed sprinkles for seasoning – Asian supermarket)
½ to 1 tsp. hot sauce, optional
Spray a large deep baking pan with nonstick cooking spray; add Tostitos. In a saucepan, heat butter with sugar, Karo syrup, soy sauce, and hot sauce; stir until sugar dissolves. Pour over Tostitos and sprinkle Furikake over; mix lightly. Bake at 250° F, uncovered, for 1 hour, mixing lightly every 15 minutes. After baking and while still hot (wear gloves or use 2 forks), quickly separate any Tostitos that are stuck together. Cool and store in airtight containers.
